no more hissing, no more swatting and plenty of butt sniffing. they gang up on me when it's treat time and i've caught her stuffing her face into his bowl when he's eating.
i like this one because it gives a pretty good idea of how much bigger he is, but he definitely knows she's boss.
she's giving the side-eye, but it's at me rather than him because she hates having her picture taken.

Similar personalities? I can see she does appreciate the company, especially because she lost her former companion.
When we adopted our third cat, an orange tabby, last January, we thought he'd be a friend for our brown tabby. But he seems to be more friends with our long haired black female, and who I never thought would enjoy a friend. They chase around, eat treats close together and even food out of the same bowl. Instead of hissing she sniffs his back when he's not looking. So you never know. The tabby and the black are both female and NOT friends.
