Does anyone want a free kitten?

I live in Reedley Ca which is about 25 miles south of Fresno. About a month ago I caught a feral kitten in our park. He's about 3 months old, and is now use to people. I've called rescue places, but I can't afford $100.00 to leave him there. They have dairy farms out here that take cats, but I feel sorry for him now that he is use to people and cat toys. I don't have a camera to take his picture, but if you're interested, I will borrow one to take picture. He gets along with other cats, although I'm sure my cats wouldn't agree with that statement. LOL!

My next step is to take him in front of a store, but I can't leave my mother for too long, and I'm afraid if he runs away, he'll get hit in the parking lot. If anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated. He's a spunky cat, and I'm afraid to have him around my 87 year old mother for fear of scratches and bites. Thank you

And what is his opinion on the current situation in Gaza?

These are questions I ask all pets I adopt, btw.

He can see Gaza on the TV from the cat house, and he doesn't like it. It scares him. Trash trucks scare him too, they're too noisy.

Please be careful about advertising a "free" kitten, especially on places like Craigs List, etc.

There are known dog fighters who routinely scour ads for "free kittens" that are then used in dog fighting rings.

I thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking him in, and you are absolutely right in that now that he's been socialized, he needs a home. I beg you to continue to try to find a rescue group or shelter that can help him find a proper home. I know it's not easy...

My advice would be to be very honest with any rescues that you call, tell them about the situation with your mother, and tell them about your financial situation. If you can offer to hang on to the kitten for a short period of time, many will put you on their "waiting" list and try to work them in.

Thank you again - and I wish you the very best of luck with this situation.

And I don't want him to get killed by dogs, or eaten by a snake. I never should have kept him this long, but I am a sucker for a cute kitten. The day I talked about giving him to the dairy farm was the day he seemed to get closer to me. Little shit. LOL! Perhaps he heard me talking. I will try the rescue again like you said and see what they say. If I had the money they could take him next week. They are full now.

The feral mother and father are still around. The father terrifies my cats, but he comes to me to let me feed and pet him. I was planning on using a dog cage to put him in because he's not going to go easy. He and the mother can go to the dairy farm as soon as I catch them. Although, the mother may be pregnant again, and she doesn't let anyone get close to her. I think once the father cat is gone, she may come to me to get fed. Both are too smart for trap cages. I hate to let these cats keep bringing more unwanted cats into the world.

I'd consider it... after all, what's one more kitten?

Well.. you should keep him. That's what. He's your cat now.

No, not coming to Albuquerque anytime soon. I would love to keep him, but I really can't. If anything, I will have to get him fixed and then maybe find someone who will take him if it takes any longer. There is a place out here that will fix him for $15.00.

I am far from you. Hamsterjill is right, you will have to try hard with the rescue groups. Let them know that you will have no choice but to drop him off in the country somewhere, or some such thing if they will not help you after you follow Hamsterjill's suggestions.

Another thing about advertising "free kittens", not only do you have to worry about the dog fighters who use them to give the dogs a bloodlust, but there are also people who have large snakes and will get free kittens to feed the snakes (although I would think that for most of them, 3 months old is getting too big).

I know that it is a tough situation to be in....I have been in it too many times myself. Except that our rescue groups all just say they don't have any room----ever----every single time I have ever called them. I don't know that they charge to take them, but there have been times that I wish they would, because that is how desperate I have been. I know you are too. Some days, it sucks to have a heart.

Good luck.

And for what they do, it's worth it. There's a place called The Cat House on the Kings, and she charges $500.00 and $50.00 a month to sponsor your cat. That is insane. It's a cat, not a kid. We already have 3 cats, and I can't take this one as much as I would "like" too. The pet limit here is 2 and I'm getting away with 3. He wins my heart everyday. Maybe I will try the grocery store on Saturday if all else fails.

I had a cheap watch I kept mostly on my desk. Every night my alarm goes off at midnight. I haven't heard it for over a week now. He must have pushed a button with his teeth or something.

Shelters can destroy them when they have too many. I agree....too many people do not take care of their cats because a mom cat has for two years, dropped babies at our house. This last time we were lucky to find a rescue group that will foster them. You might do an online search for cat rescue groups. One kitty is not hard for some to add to their fostering.
