but I would be a little concerned about the ones where the dogs seemed pretty aggressive.

What a woeful face! Some of those were really funny. Others looked like those dogs should have been muzzled before the bath.

And I always thought that us cat owners were the only ones with problems giving baths.

and snap at them like that. They all failed in trying to force the issue. Not all dogs will ever enjoy a bath, but with a lot of patience and making it out to be fun they can learn to tolerate it. A few tubby toys are sometimes a must.

i think most people also fail in that they fill the tub with water first, and that all by itself can make a dog leary of getting in since they can't tell where the bottom of the tub is... there's no depth perception in water. Unless a dog likes a bath and being in a tub of water, I'm not sure why people want the tub filled with water anyway since the dirt, oils and soap will just cling to them when they need to be rinsed with clean water after the shampooing.... why would anyone want to wash the dog yet have them standing in mucky water after the scrubbing? I think it's that depth perception issue that's why Yoshi and Boo before him were/are leary of my little back yard pool... they want in, but they can't tell where the bottom is. I finally came to the reluctant conclusion though that I didn't want them in the pool since it's rather fragile vinyl and much too easy for their nails to poke a hole in it. Next summer though I think I'm going to get Yoshi his own pool - one of those hard plastic round baby pools. It might end up being a mistake since I'm sure that he'll want to throw all his toys in it, and run around getting all filthy in the dirt and jumping in and out until the water is a mud pit. Well, at least he'll have fun with it.

I didn't know that cats needed baths. I always thought they were rather self-cleaning. I'll stick with the dogs... I wouldn't even know where to start in trying to give a creature that can be such a flying pin cushion a bath. LOL!

I think my favorites in the video were the dog that was totally submerged except for its snout getting a belly scrubbing and the Newfie puppy that climbed in his water bowl. When I first brought Boo home as a puppy and gave him a bowl of water he turned around and sat in it. He'd still do that as an adult, so I actually preferred that he turn on the tub faucet for a drink. An adult Akita can hold about 3 or 4 gallons of water in their butt fur alone... I'm convinced of it. Then they run straight to the bed and sit on your pillow. What is it about dogs that as soon as they get wet or muddy the first thing they want to do is go marauding around in your bed especially if you just made it up with clean sheets.

I can just see your bed with an Akita sitting on it with 4 gallons of water in his butt!

Cats normally do not need baths, but there are times---like when I had flea problems. My current cat has not had a bath in the 2-1/2 years I have had him, but I have had to give flea baths to two cats I previously had. What you said about filling the tub first is something that I learned about giving a cat a bath. I am surprised that some of those people with small dogs chose to use the tub at all. I always used the double kitchen sinks or the double sinks in the basement once I moved here. The basement is great because I have a rubber hose and can run water in all directions. I never put water in the sinks, just wet with the hose, soap them up, then rinse with the hose. They are much calmer (although far from calm) when they are not standing in water.
