Toby's Wonderful Day! Big improvement for a sick little dog! (video)

Thanks everyone for all of your help and good wishes. Toby is still filling up with fluids but much more slowly. Instead of a tap every 3 days we are hoping to make it to 5 or 6 days this week. He is feeling so much better and he is so happy to be out in the sun and playing with his friends. A few weeks ago he could barely walk. Now look at him!...

3. Thanks. He had his last tap on Weds nite and he had needed one every 3 days.

Today is Saturday and you can see that he is doing really well. He does have fluids but I am hoping he makes it a whole week this time. That means whatever it is, it's healing. That was pretty traumatic for all of us! Today was a real gift

5. Fabulous!

I keep checking in for updates about Toby. This is really great news! He looks normal now! You'd never know he had anything wrong with him other than a slightly pudgy belly.

7. He's on mega doses of Prednisone and diuretics and a suppliment called Rutin.

I give him his food and water in small amounts all day. If he drinks too much at a time he swells up like a water balloon and can't walk. This way he keeps peeing most of it out.

11. He is starting to fill up again so he will go to the good Vets...

tonight or tomorrow. You can tell he feels it because he hides....

13. Sorry I was late catching your earlier post

But I'm very glad to hear of Toby's improvement. We need those little (or big) furball muggers. I don't handle their medical issues very smoothly. Even though I know neutering is best for male dogs, every time I had to have it done, I'd leave the vet's office in tears. And when my chows had to be put down, I was absolutely insane for a long time. And I feel that way for all animals and their human companions. Every one is so precious. So it makes me very happy when there's a good outcome.

15. So nice to see Toby feeling happy

I did note that he was hiding yesterday, but still understand that he is improving overall. I saw you give him a treat and you have so much to think about already, I just want to be sure you okayed those treats with Toby's vet.

16. Yes, they are low fat and the same as his new food.

I don't think he would normally eat them but he is so hungry from the extra large doses of Preds that he would beg for cardboard! He had his draining this morning so we added an extra day to his routine. If we can do a little better every time it will be great.
