We just put in around 50 raspberry plants..should be some good eating around June or so.
Also put in 2 hazelnut bushes. Hope they produce this summer, they are old enough to.

5. Red or Black?

That sounds like a trimming nightmare to me in a couple of years. But I love raspberries so its probably worth the work!

8. A few black but mostly red. Trimming is no problem. Been there, done that before.

6. Will they fruit this year?
|
Raspberries usually do like blackberries and fruit on the previous year's canes. But you may have some mature plants?
Anyway, that's a lot of work, so congratulations. Enjoy the fruit of your labors for real. I need to go pick up some raspberry cuttings a friend is making for me. Her berries are stupendous. But today I must plant a showy orchid, some jack-In-The Pulpit and a bunch of other wildflowers a friend rescues from the logging roads before they get squished. And weed wack. Is it mean to weedwack on Easter? Would Ostara approve? |

7. They should. We got them from a family that was cleaning out their patch, so the plants

are mature.
