We've had too much stir-fry lately to go that direction.
the sun is shining and the birds are singing and it's very difficult to think about dinner right now!

(22,132 posts)It's only 48 F. here at nearly 2:00 p.m. Maybe picnic like food will make me feel warmer .

(22,132 posts)I brought all of the summer clothes out of storage over a week ago. Well, the "picnic" was nice, but bring out the sun .

(163,986 posts)It's going to be hot here for the next three days or so. Plan around the heat hot. Sit in the truck with the A/C on hot.

Sounds like a nurturing guy with bonus points for cooking. Lucky you!

(24,146 posts)he works in a kitchen, so he doesn't really cook much at home. when he does, it's always tasty

(12,253 posts)Mr. pup means well, but he's a little absent-minded-professorish in the kitchen. Enjoy!

(3,744 posts)So I fixed grilled Havarti cheese sandwich on spelt bread. I don't have gluten intolerance but love the flavor of the bread.
yellerpup
(12,253 posts)I've been wanting to try it.
Jazzgirl
(3,744 posts)The flavor is very pleasant and kind of sweet. It is a little delicate but it held up well with frying. I like to use salt free goats butter. Yum.

(12,253 posts)I love anything with goats butter, so I'm sure I'd lap it right up.

That was my first attempt at the chickpeas. They're sort of like fried wasabi peas - a crunchy spicy slow carb snack. I used this recipe: http://willowbirdbaking.com/2010/09/02/snack-attack-2-chili-lime-roasted-chickpeas/
But I didn't read through the directions, and screwed it up a little -- I put the spices on at the start and they burned a little. Next time they go on at the end!

(12,253 posts)in the Italian vein. They are very good snacks to put out with cocktails. I think the main spice in that dish is sage. Your whole dinner sounds delicious.

(20,234 posts)I could do that - I have a ton of sage in the garden.
I had to try making the roasted chili ones after I tried a bag of them on a whim at - of all places - the dollar store. It was the best new item I've had in a long time. It immediately sparked an argument at home because I wanted to send some to my mom for mother's day and the husband doesn't think I should send her gifts from the dollar store. But they are so good!
yellerpup
(12,253 posts)I'd stock up on them and I bet your mom would love them. Maybe as a little extra love gift.
