I made soup--no recipe in particular, just what I thought would be good. If I had to give it a name, it would be Broccoli-Butternut Squash Soup with Italian Sausage.
I did something kind of different for a soup: I cooked many of the ingredients separately.
--First, the Italian sausage was put in my small crockpot. I've learned this method of cooking results in such a juicy, tender sausage.
-- I also cooked my butternut squash in...well, butter, with the herbs thyme and sage. Then I put it all together with both chicken and vegetable stock.
Oh, one other item I cooked separately: the broccoli. I did that separately because I wanted it to stay bright green, so I steamed it and then plunged it into an ice bath.
So that's what's for dinner here: soup. I also may make turkey pastrami sandwiches to go with.

p.s. I tried the new spicy chai tea last night, and it's a winner.
