Our beef consumption is down to a couple of times a month, if that.

But it's burgers tonight.

My mother-in-law used to make this often and I love it. Kids always complain that I make burghul too much, so I make this instead, although they argue it's not much different. What do they know?!

and got some great links. Freekeh sounds like something I would really like, esp. since I have a bit of sensitivity to some grains. The info I got said that it is great for folks who might have problems with other grains, since it is green and is a good source of protein. I live in a very rural (US Southeastern) area but might be able to talk my local natural foods store/vitamin shoppe into carrying this item. Do you order it from a particular source? Do you buy in large quantities? Do you get it from a local merchant? Would love to have more info. I'm ready for a new food adventure and this sounds like it could be a great choice for me!!!

It IS supposed to be green, and the kind my MIL brought with her from Syria were green. But I haven't been able to find that color anywhere, including the middle eastern market I buy it from. If there is no ME market in your area, try World Market, I've actually seen it there before.

Glad I could be of service! Hope you find some and enjoy it

to visit soon. I'm sure they will have Freekeh.

Sigh, there are no ME markets here in my rural, N. Georgia community, although there are lots of very nice, well-stocked Hispanic markets that sell lovely fruits, veggies and things that are not usually on the shelves at Kroger.
