Cooking & Baking
Related: About this forumWell, I won't run out of ham for a while.
I bought two last week, a boneless ham to cut up for cooking, and a spiral sliced half ham. My sister brought over another half spiral sliced ham. My neighbor dropped off a half spiral sliced ham yesterday.
Good thing I've got 10 lbs of dried beans in the freezer. I know what we're eating the rest of the winter, a lot of ham dishes. Soup, whatever.

(11,304 posts)cut up pieces of ham and about 2 table spoons of olive oil in a pot of water. Through in a couple of pieces of garlic. When the beans are done add more water and throw in some elbow macaroni. When the macaroni is done pull it off the stove and serve. I like to put some parmesan cheese in it. It is so good on a cold day. If you have left overs just add a little water to it and serve. Called pasta fagioli. Mom told me they use to eat allot of it during WWII because it was filling and high in iron. I didn't like it when I was a child but now I love it.

(11,304 posts)before you go to bed. Soak in cold water. Then fill the pot with water cook beans put olive oil and (I use garlic powder) garlic. Enjoy. Don't forget to put in ham. You can use that cubed ham if you want. It really gives it the flavor.

(50,130 posts)My favorite way to eat ham. It's so delicious, with the cider vinegar basting sauce.
If you have an old-fashioned grinder, that works great. Otherwise, a food processor or chopper will work too.
Served with scalloped or au gratin potatoes -- nothing is better.
