3. Costco has them

Excellent, small Willapa Bay oysters, about 40 to a jar for $13. Our local markets have local oysters in the shell this time of of year for $7/dozen. The price has been rising steadily.

6. I have rarely eaten them since I left New Orleans.

Got used to happy hours with half shell oyster free or ten cents. When I saw the prices out here on the west coast, I just couldn't stomach them, lol.

9. The legend of oysters being an excellent aphrodisiac is just a cruel myth with no basis in fact.

10. They scare me

My folks ate them fried, in stew, and put them I half of the turkey dressing at Thanksgiving. I just could never take a shooter. Do you chew? Or just swallow. Gag.

14. I can't get past

Looking at it through the glass. And do you chomp on it on the way down or does it just slide down your throat.

Yikes. I'm a chicken. I can eat them breaded and fried, so I don't have to see 'em but that's it. Well, I've eaten oyster stew, too. Love those little crackers. Those make the dish.

11. Are those fried?

I've only had raw oysters (which I love). Fried would remind me of whole belly clams.

12. I usually like them raw, fried is usually over cooked

however there is one place in town that does them good, love oysters.

16. I agree with one exception - grilled.

There is a restaurant in New Orleans that opens them then puts butter, garlic and parsley over them while still on the half shell, and puts them on a BBQ.

To me, that is oyster heaven.

18. The restaurant is called Drago's.

It's just off the interstate on the way in from Metairie.

Worth the stop. Take a seat at the bar and watch them make them and serve them.

Yummy, yummy, yummy.
