I'll pick up some rolls in the morning and I have a jar of sweet pepper relish in the fridge that works perfectly with porketta sandwiches.

A friend of mine sent me the recipe for his homemade Garam Masala and chicken curry. Gonna play with them this afternoon. The recipe looks yummy.

5. dining at Ethiopian restaurant

This restaurant won the NRA Diversity award last year.

I'm having the vegetarian sampler. It's various little dishes of vegetarian food in little bowls and you have them with a big round flatbread, on which it is served. You can also have them with rice, which is what I will do.

The restaurant is beautiful. Very simply designed but with art work everywhere, hardwood floors, and interesting lighting.

Here's a link to a youtube video about the owners and how they came to America. My husband told me how Ethiopia is a matriarchy, and thus this restaurant is run by the women in the family but the men help.

Note: click the link "watch on youtube" when you click the link below.

I think most DU-ers would love this restaurant.

I'm going with a friend who is a world traveler--I know she will really like it, too.

We ordered some kind of sampler. As you describe, they bring it out on a big platter - soft, flat bread on the bottom with piles of the various foods on top.

You tore off a piece of the bread and scooped up whatever you wanted from the platter. No plates, no silverware.

Every so often, you turn the platter to get to some of the other things.

I can't watch the video, but your post brought back a flood of wonderful memories.

I hope you had a wonderful meal and a warm and loving experience, cher.

that I would instruct him on making some quesadillas.

We have everything he needs and I will sit on the couch, watch the olympics and give instructions.

Win/Win, right?

He learns how to make quesadillas and I don't cook.

He is looking less than enthused.

I bought a bunch of fresh basil, slicing tomatoes and goat cheese for layers, and drizzled balsalmic vinagar and olive oil all over. Every bit got eaten, and there was a bunch of other good stuff too.
