hello

I really hope I can contribute here, and that this group is respected, on DU and on the wider internet.

Here goes: I have chronic depression, since age 6. On two meds for it. Father was Bipolar I. Mom had depression. I get it genetically.

There was an incident a while back of someone "raiding" this group to smear another DU'er, which I found really despicable. Hopefully that will never happen again. No, I'm not going to give out any links or hints. It's over now, in the ancient past. As you can tell, that incident stopped me from coming here for months and months.

Lurkers and freepers, you are lower than dog shit if you take the content in this group to ridicule people or smear people. That's a fact, not just my opinion.

At any rate, hello and thanks for welcoming me to this wonderful and MUCH needed group.

Steve

i agree w your statement about the freepers that drag this forum. i have quite a following on a certain website. ( there pond scum.) i try not to watch it too closely, but every now and again i check it out. it reminds me why i love du.
it also reminds me that the world is full of broken people, something that i have a hard time remembering.

try not to let it hold you back. (like it does me sometimes)

hope you are doing well. i am hanging on by the skin of my teeth these days, but still hanging all the same.

you are very welcome here. it is the best group on du, imho. nothing but sweet and accepting people.

to all.

The important thing for most people of this group to remember is that they are as anonymous as they make themselves. That is, if you don't put any identifying information out there, you won't have to worry about the dickheads who mock people who post here. Personally, I don't give a damn about them.

I have bipolar 1, and I don't go around advertising it in real life, but it's not going to hurt me if more people know about it. Many people are just ignorant about mental illness and they fear what they do not know. I know how to handle that, and I'm usually not bothered by people like that. Those who mock people who post here are really in that same category. The problem with them is that they have no empathy or compassion. I'd much rather have my problem than theirs.

Yes, you're right. I'm making it a point not to go to the infamous sites who stalk us. I'd also rather have my condition than theirs.

Best wishes to you, Tobin.
