I was one of those people in 2008, posted here when I was at my most desperate. I met someone in that position at the meeting I went to tonight, a guy who's been in the program off and on for years, but can't seem to get it. It's a beginner's meeting and he got his 24 hour coin. He actually brought up the topic, needed support and advice and I think he got it. Everyone in the room shared what's worked for them, and he left with the numbers of all the guys in the group and a smile on his face. I just hope he comes back.

52 days sober.
I'm getting the no drinking part pretty well, for now.

One day. Then, only after that, another day.

Vanje, 52 days is so awesome!!!! I remember when I couldn't understand how somebody went 2 days??? Hang in there, and remember no matter what, even if you butt falls off, pick it up, don't drink and get to a meeting.

Early in my recovery, at my daily meeting (yes, daily! lol), there was this dude who was a regular there, and he had over thirty years clean and sober. But when people asked him how much time he had, he would only answer "All day." All them other days were just little victories to him. Today was always the most important. I didn't really understand the idea of One Day At A Time until I started hanging with that guy. I was still looking for the secret. Well, here's the secret:

I wake up clean. I stay clean all day. I go to bed clean. I win.

Fifty-two days is fucking awesome! Keep 'em coming!

The shitty shit going on in my life may still be shitty, but at least I wont be throwing up, or incapacitated by hang over.
