"World Without End"

Combo European and Canadian production. Great medieval drama. Characters are well acted and well drawn with only a couple of flat stereotypes, but they are in the background.

Only eight episodes though. Didn't want it to end.

If you want more in the same vein, look for Pillars of the Earth. This was an 8-part Starz miniseries, also based on a book by Ken Follett set in the same time period.
