Staring Willem Dafoe and Charlotte Gainsbourg.
Plot: After the death of their toddler, a couple decide to go out in the woods and stay in a cabin so the husband, who is a therapist, can help his wife overcome her intense grief. While out in the cabin, things start to get weird. Except for a couple of minutes, the couple are the only two people in the movie. I loved this movie, but I have to say that it may be too intense for some adults, and children should absolutely not see this movie. You have been warned. Edit: No really, it's fucking intense in several ways.

5. it's one of those films
|
that are masterfully filmed, superb acting, but more gruesome than Bloodsucking Freaks.
a hidden treasure of the horror genre. |

6. what was your take on the ending?

I enjoyed it....but the faceless horde of women who swarm him at the end left me scratching my head. not really sure what it was conveying

7. I had two different thoughts.
|
My first thought was those women were the victims of gynocide, which the movie briefly discusses.
My second thought was the movie was equating women with nature, which are both equated with evil in the mind of the woman. The man rejected this idea throughout the movie, but perhaps he "sees" it at the end due to his wife's actions and the three beggars. |
