and lived to 98. There were fewer extra 'ingredients' in those days, of course. And my mother died at 30 something of breast cancer, an aunt died in her 60s probably of intestinal cancer, and uncles of heart conditions in their 40s and 50s. I'm 70, and ok. I don't think our anecdotes prove anything.

4. The secret reason docs love the Mediterranean diet:

back in the 50's, some folks pushing tourism gave a bunch of influential doctors all expense paid vacations at various Mediterranean villas.
Of course they thought Mediterranean food was great. No one has ever pointed out that the Greeks, Southern Italians, Northern Italians, French and Spanish all live on the Mediterranean and all eat different things. (Of course, North Africa has nothing to do with the Mediterranean)

As far as I know, the one study of a Mediterranean diet was taken on a Greek island during Lent, a time when eggs, all dairy products (butter and cheese) and meat are forbidden. Guess what the villagers ate in abundance the rest of the year?

Bzzzt. Stop reading right there.

Okay I lied, I read the next one and again they warn that fat in cheese is bad. Not even close to correct.

Third one, "fatty ribs are bad". Wrong.

Fifth one is wrong, please do not avoid cream and butter.

It keeps going, and it's almost all wrong. This article is crap.

that is, from 2010, and for those who think 'old' means 'crap,' then it is 'crap.' Others may find some useful info in it.

Why the hell would you praise the Med diet and then crap on saturated fat?

It's insane, and confusing, and wrong.
