another side to the ALS Ice Bucket Challange... graphic!

Believe me, there is no more horrible death sentence than this diagnosis. She was mentally alert to the very end, when she could not move a muscle, could not speak, could not do anything except face dearh. As she got closer, she knew she was close to the end. Our family made her comfortable by administering morphine...until her heart stopped. Mercy killing? Abosulutely. Because you wouldn't allow your pets to suffer from this disease.

my only experience is watching a young man in my community being publically loved and cared for by his fiancé until the end...

(as far as mercy killing... my husband was given plenty of morphine at the end to make sure he was comfortable... it's ok)

Only people who don't have to deal with reality would find something wrong with the way my family dealt with my Mom's ALS. Everyone else can bite me...
