Abortion Is Found to Have Little Effect on Womens Mental Health

From the NYT Health Section, Dec. 14 2016:

Abortion Is Found to Have Little Effect on Women’s Mental Health

It’s an idea that has long been used as an argument against abortion — that terminating a pregnancy causes women to experience emotional and psychological trauma.

Some states require women seeking abortions to be counseled that they might develop mental health problems. Now a new study, considered to be the most rigorous to look at the question in the United States, undermines that claim.

Yep.

I know.

One from the "duh" file... but the drumbeat will continue, down through the generations, until we have agency over our own bodies.

May it happen in my daughter's lifetime, if not in mine.

hopefully,

Bright

experienced by women who have an abortion. We all know that but I guess it has to be said again and again.

the antiabortion true believers will just shrug it all off because they "know" women are always devastated when they realize what they've done is murder a 3 month old baby at the height of cuteness when they terminate a pregnancy at under 6 weeks.

It sucks that they'll have to keep wasting precious research grant dollars at proving this stuff again and again: that women who terminate their early pregnancies generally feel only relief.

This study guts one of the key legal arguments used to justify TRAP and anti-abortion laws http://www.slate.com/blogs/xx_factor/2016/12/14/new_longitudinal_study_confirms_that_women_who_get_abortions_do_not_suffer.html We will see this study cited in the litigation that will arise when Trump and/or the GOP tries to restrict abortion rights

They don't give the tiniest fuck about any aspect of women's health. They are pandering to women-hating fundies who want to punish women for daring to have sex without the excuse of procreating. Fuck them and the bible bullshit they shovel!
