Could Carmen Carrera Be Victoria's Secret's First Transgender Model?
Feast your eyes on the breathtaking, beautiful and dazzling Carmen Carrera. Take a good look now before she becomes globally mega-famous as the world’s very first transgender Victoria’s Secret model. Carrera is the subject of a new Change.org petition that asks Victoria’s Secret put Carrera on the runway.
The petition suggests that hiring Carrera as a lingerie supermodel will not only give the world some amazing eye candy, but will also fulfill a bigger purpose: it will serve to bolster the cause of transgender acceptance in society. The move to hire Carrera, the petition says, “will help to end femmephobia within the LGBTIQQA community. It will show the entire trans community that you embrace them as your patrons.” The petition is growing in strength and currently sports over 28,000 signatures.
Carrera has previously starred on RuPaul’s Project Runway, coming in fifth place. She was snapped up by the Elite Model Management modeling agency shortly after the show ended. She has completed her transition to female, she said on her Facebook page. While Carrera did not participate in the petition’s creation, she is very enthused about its existence and says she would be very happy to be on the runway.
