In a state of gay-hate,Arlington PD charges vandals with a hate crime
Police have arrested a final suspect after vandals spray-painted anti-gay and racial slurs on vehicle and homes in an Arlington neighborhood.
Morgen Rae Aubuchon, 18, was arrested Monday and booked into the Arlington Jail on a felony graffiti charge. She was released late Tuesday on $1,500 bail.
The vandals spray-painted obscenities, hateful messages and obscene pictures in bright colors on the property of homeowners in the 1100 block of Crowley Road. They appeared to target a lesbian couple, among others, and prosecutors will determine whether their actions constitute a hate crime.
Thomas Anable, president of Fairness Fort Worth, an advocacy group for lesbian, gays and transgender individuals, praised the work of Arlington police and prosecutors.
“From start to finish, everything has gone very well,” he said. “Law enforcement and the Tarrant County district attorney’s office has been communicating with our community and making sure everyone has been kept informed about the situation.”
