As stated in the reply above, I want California and Maine to see re-legalization of marriage equality in their states. Possible contenders for the next state: Maryland and Rhode Island in their state legislatures and New Jersey in the courts. I also think it's only a matter of time before Oregon and Washington follow suit as well.

I also hope that marriage equality remains legal in all places where it currently is so. I am truly afraid for New Hampshire and Iowa.

The Tea Party is strong there and is firmly in control of the state legislature. I also have a hard time believing that Governor Brewer would sign a marriage equality bill if one were presented to her. I would love for it to happen, but I'm having a hard time seeing it given that state's political climate.

I'm curious to know why Arizona is at the top of your list. I don't mean to sound argumentative, I'm just genuinely curious. Is there something happening in the courts there?

WHen it comes to our equal rights right now it seems to be a crapshoot anywhere.

Sorry, I didn't see that thread. But you're right, it's a crapshoot. Who knows where it will happen again ... or how long it will last.

Polynesian culture is not homophobic like Western, Anglo-Saxon culture is, and I think Hawaii would be a good candidate. Setting aside CA which is - as we know - in flux with regard to that issue, when it comes to gay rights, the northeast typically has led the way, with midwest states like Illinois and Wisconsin following. So, New Jersey? New Hampshire? Lots of possibilities. Hard to say.

Since we in New York have it now, I'm not really paying as much attention to the issue anymore. I wish we could enter the modern era as a nation. Sadly, we'll always have places like Texas to deal with (and you liberals there know I don't mean you guys).

I was just wondering which states to watch. I already live in a state where it is legal. I hope it is legalized everywhere. I think it has a chance of happening soon in Maryland, Hawaii, Maine or Rhode Island.
