LGBT
Related: About this forumI would like to take this opportunity to make my feelings be known to the LGBT Group members.
This is my pledge to you as a LGBT Host.
It should also be pointed out that I am speaking for myself and no other Hosts of the LGBT Group.
I just spent the past week in a place where I could not be myself, due to the circumstances of my being there I refused to be myself but act in accordance with the way that community expected me to be (this was no easy task).
There is outright hatred to wards the LGBT community in many places in America, there is a abundance of ignorance about the LGBT community in America and then we have the cowards who feign ignorance and will ask a question in a way to be mocking the LGBT community while giving the appearance to to show concern which is nothing but pure bullshit. This is the groundwork for my pledge.
I have a very good proven track record here on DU of rooting out the people with feigned ignorance to wards our group here at DU. With my life experience and professional career in Law Enforcement I can detect bullshit a mile away. I have therefor decided to take a zero tolerance policy when it comes to any games that people will try to play in this Group. Part of the TOS on DU states "you take your chances" as far as I am concerned when it comes to this Group there are no chances, any bullshit and your out of here. I know this may cause problems with other LGBT Hosts and may even cost me my hosting position but I wanted to say this to our Group members here and our allies here to let you know where I am coming from and my reasons for it. I cannot and will not speak for other Hosts for what I have in this post, I just wanted you all to know where I am coming from and the reasons behind it.
This is a Safe Haven Group and I will do my best to make sure the LGBT Memebers feel safe posting in this Group.

I am ready.

(29,503 posts)nuking anyone. You have done a stupendous job of walking the tightrope here as a host, and you also have demonstrated, time and again, that you take time to reflect upon your responsibilities here and how you've exercised them, considering whether or not the things you've done were best, or if they could have been done better.
Long-winded way of saying, you have my 100% vote of confidence!

(61,588 posts)Our group came through this stronger than ever. The disruptor's actions speak for themselves.
Good block.

(10,533 posts)I was going to suggest a block simply as a political statement. The same way a small town can register its approval or disapproval of state government with a non-binding resolution...if DU refuses to rid itself of a purveyor of absolutely reprehensible bigotry, we at least can register our view that that person does not belong in this group.
