Shane McGlaun, Nov 28th 2012

... The team was led by Dr. Melba S. Ketchum who says that her study sequenced 20 complete mitochondrial genomes obtained from purported Sasquatch samples. She says that the sequencing proved that the mtDNA is identical to modern Homo sapiens, however the nuDNA from the samples is from an unknown hominin related to Homo sapiens and other primate species.

The scientists claim that Bigfoot is the result of a male of the unknown primate species mating with a female Homo sapiens. Genetic testing of the samples has ruled out relation to Homo Neanderthalis and the Denisova hominin as contributors to the Sasquatch mtDNA or nuDNA. Ketchum has called on public officials and law enforcement to recognize the Sasquatch as an indigenous people. The researchers promise full details of the study will be presented when the manuscript is published ...

Again, it is unknown what DNA was actually examined. There’s also the possibility that the still-veiled DNA sample - whether it be from Bigfoot, another human, a bear, something similar - was contaminated by being mishandled in Ketchum’s lab, which was previously given an F rating by the Better Business Bureau.

3. The BBB is a scam, and its ratings don't mean shizz:

Terror Group Gets 'A' Rating From Better Business Bureau?
By JOSEPH RHEE and BRIAN ROSS (@brianross)
Nov. 12, 2010

The Better Business Bureau, one of the country's best known consumer watchdog groups, is being accused by business owners of running a "pay for play" scheme in which A plus ratings are awarded to those who pay membership fees, and F ratings used to punish those who don't.

To prove the point, a group of Los Angeles business owners paid $425 to the Better Business Bureau and were able to obtain an A minus grade for a non-existent company called Hamas, named after the Middle Eastern terror group ...

Errors seem to abound at the Better Business Bureau. As reported by an anonymous blogger the BBB also awarded an A minus rating to a non-existent sushi restaurant in Santa Ana, California and an A plus to a skinhead, neo-Nazi web site called Stormfront.

Each listing cost $425 ...

5. I don't know if its a scam or not, but the BBB......

....posts the complaints it has received and you can make your own judgement. I've used their posts to research companies several times and found them useful.

According to the news report, her company "has had more than two dozen complaints lodged against it". That's an indicator regardless of the rating.

Don't go overboard with the crazy talk.

Democratic Underground is not intended to be a platform for kooks and crackpots peddling paranoid fantasies with little or no basis in fact. To accommodate our more imaginative members we tolerate some limited discussion of so-called "conspiracy theories" under the following circumstances: First, those discussions are not permitted in our heavily-trafficked Main forums; and second, those discussions cannot stray too far into Crazyland (eg: chemtrails, black helicopters, 9/11 death rays or holograms, the "New World Order," the Bilderbergers, the Illuminati, the Trilateral Commission, the Freemasons, alien abduction, Bigfoot, and the like). In addition, please be aware that many conspiracy theories have roots in racism and anti-semitism, and Democratic Underground has zero tolerance for bigoted hate speech. In short, you take your chances.
