1. I know the tapes were lost, but what happened to the rocks?

Russia should have a couple grams from its Luna missions

2. Saw the story yesterday and didn't pick it up --

but looks like the last of the moon rocks has been ... eh ...

misplaced - permanently?

True -- ALL the tapes are gone --

And there are actually people who will believe this?

PS: I'm wondering if they'll remove the LEM from the Smithsonian and take it on

tour and lose it as well?

Have you ever really looked at that thing?

Now THAT's a lotta tin foil -- !!!

3. "And there are actually people who will believe this?"

Why would you say this?

You must be aware that almost everyone believes that the moon missions happened.

5. 20% of the public doesn't believe it -- and it's not like they're exposed

to any regular challenge to the idea -- !!

Who discusses it -- CNN? PBS?

Remember when the CIA used to be admired --

and we had a government we thought we could trust?

"Moon Landing" took place at a time when there was a great deal of

trust in government -- but still, many had doubts about it.

One of the odd advantages of the JFK assassination is that there's a lot of

interest and a lot of information out there -- many challenges to the official myth.

Very public event which many felt deeply impacted them and they are still interested.

Same with 9/11 -- and the challengers got busy very quickly getting a lot of info out.

Why Do So Many People Think We Never Landed On The Moon
Many people find it hard to believe that up to 20% of the US population thinks that we never landed on the moon. Many people think it was a hoax ... moon landings had actually ...

7. Polls in America are around 6% of people who question whether it happened.

20% is a figure from a British survey.

ETA: And even so, since by your figures, 80% of the public doesn't question the moon landing, why would you say what you did?

11. You have your polls -- other polls say 20% which I think is low --

Why would you ask why I'm saying this when I've told you why --

there is very little challenge to the Moon Landing -- if there was

there would be a greater interest in it and more questioning --

55% of Americans believe they have a guardian angel.
And is it a coincidence that 20% suffer from mental illness???

4. Actually they're nowhere close to losing the "last" moon rock.

http://www.space.com/13878-nasa-apollo-moon-rocks-misplaced-lost-report.html

NASA regularly loans moon rocks, meteorites and samples of comet dust to museums, researchers, educators and institutions around the world. The Astromaterials Acquisition and Curation Office maintains 140,000 lunar samples, 18,000 meteorite samples, and about 5,000 solar wind, comet and cosmic dust samples, the report said.

"As of March 2011, over 26,000 of these samples were on loan for scientific study, educational pursuits and public outreach purposes," Martin wrote.

Out of those 26,000 sample loaned out, 517 have been misplaced.

6. First, there is no proof that any of the rocks were brought back from

any "Moon landing" --

NASA has done one hell of a lot of things over the decades -- many very

questionable and nonsensical.

And as you know there are many challenges to the moon rocks --

That's very far from being the case. Are you willing to concede that?

9. My OP means nothing because I didn't pick up the article -- as I made clear --

but who cares, Bolo --

The point is that what they had on tape they've had to destroy --

kinda like the CIA destroying their evidence of torture --

and whatever they had of "rocks" they're losing --

in more ways than one -- !!

10. 517 samples out of 163,000 currently misplaced or lost.

That's 12 a year since 1969.

At this rate, the coverup will be complete around the year 15,553.

13. Well, yes, they can.

Not to you, of course. I don't think there's any evidence you would accept on the subject. But the immense undertaking of travel to the moon was well documented and the vast majority of samples have alway had a chain of custody.

17. What evidence? Anything that was documented has been lost or tossed.

Additionally, there is great controvesy about the rocks --

and, of course, you know that.

Meanwhile, the issue of losing and tossing tapes and rocks is the primary

issue --

20. That's not true, defend.

There is only great controversy about the rocks in a small subset of people. And of course you know that.

The only tapes missing are the telemetry tapes for the first mission to land on the moon. The other Apollo missions tapes remain accounted for. And of course you know that.

21. Of course it's true -- because the general public doesn't get

to examine the rocks --

From the outset you're talking about a small number of

people who would be aware of the issues.

The ONLY tapes missing are for the original Moon Landing -- ROFL

Where the IGNORE -- ???

22. Not all tapes of the original moon landing are missing, just the telemetry.

And there are at least six sets of tapes there of the other five moon landings and the Apollo 13 mission besides. They go all the way to the moon and all the way back. If the tapes are your standard for acceptance, why do you dismiss them?

And they haven't LOST or TOSSED their moon rocks?

I think that's a rather "destructive" thing to say when you

30. I can easily believe in a hoax that would fool the media (they're mostly dolts!).....

....but not one that could fool the world scientific community! Try this site for information:

http://www.badastronomy.com/bad/tv/foxapollo.html

That's from astronomer Phil Plait. You can also watch the Mythbusters take on the Moon Hoax Myth on YouTube:

Part 1:
Part 2: &feature=mfu_in_order&list=UL
Part 3: &feature=mfu_in_order&list=UL
Part 4: &feature=mfu_in_order&list=UL
Part 5: &feature=mfu_in_order&list=UL

That last part (part 5) has actual evidence that NASA astronauts actually went to the moon - contact with a laser retro-reflector left on the moon by Apollo 15 astronauts.

Or you can go to Phil Plait's more recent blog posts and see images of the Apollo landing sites in high definition imaged by the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter:
