Related: About this forumUN: In 2014, Israel demolished 1,177 Palestinians’ homes in the West Bank
http://mondoweiss.net/2015/02/israel-demolished-palestiniansIsrael destroyed 590 Palestinian buildings in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, in 2014, displacing 1,177 people, according to a new study by the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA). This constitutes the highest level of displacement in the West Bank since the UN began monitoring the issue in 2008.
Amira Hass summarizes the findings of the OCHA report in Haaretz. She indicates that, in 2014, the Civil Administration of the Israel Defense Forces destroyed
493 buildings in the West Bank;
the homes of 969 Palestinians in the West Bank;
97 buildings in East Jerusalem;
the homes of 208 Palestinians in East Jerusalem; and
an average of 9 Palestinian buildings per week.
In three days, from 20-22 January, 77 Palestinians, over half of whom were children, were made homeless by these demolitions. In just the week of 19-26 January, Israel destroyed 41 Palestinian buildings and delivered 45 construction stop orders and two demolition orders. All of these structures were owned by Bedouins and other pastoral communities. Some of the destroyed buildings had been donated by European humanitarian organizations, and Israel issued an order to stop construction on a park funded by foreign donor countries.

My fellow DUers, this destructive, colonial, apartheidist mindset of Israel needs to stop. Palestinian lives matter.

LOL
Mondoweiss is a vanity blog and not a reliable or accurate source.
Got an alternative more reliable link for this?

(12,606 posts)2. For all the DUers reading this.
Have you noticed how hard some try to censor what is posted in order to bury what they don't want you to read?
It's strange that I would see that from supposed Democrats on a Democratic message board.

The Democratic Party would never use this source ever in one of its many websites .
Ever.....

An antiZionist, sometimes bigoted ,site like Mondoweiss ,would never be endorsed by ...or linked to ,by any Democratic Party candidate or rep.... It just simply is not our values.

complained about not being able read Haaretz do to paywall issues, so how do you know what the article even said?
R. Daneel Olivaw
(12,606 posts)12. "haven't you complained about not being able read Haaretz"
Do you really believe that is an issue or a manufactured complaint to distract from the OPs?
I would choose the latter since there seems to be a pattern of attempts to distract, IMHO.

(12,606 posts)9. And yet, in rather knee-jerk reaction, you called out Mondoweiss yet you
mentioned nary a word regarding Breitbart.
Very curious indeed.

Some 35 percent of Britons name Israel as their least favorite non-European country, a worse score than Iran's.
By Haaretz | Feb. 1, 2015 | 8:43 AM
British citizens think worse of Israel than they do about any other non-European country except for North Korea, a British survey published this week found.
Answering the question "Which of the following do you feel especially unfavorable toward?" 35 percent named Israel scoring two points worse than Iran, the poll found.
With 47 percent, North Korea won the worst score, the Chathan House-YouGov poll found.
Israel's score, a rise of 18 points since the last poll was published in 2012, may have been due to last summer's war between Israel and Gaza and the civilian death toll it exacted from the Palestinians, the report posited. Respondents may have been influenced by news from the war, which featured heavily in the news when the survey was conducted, said the report.
Iran, on the other hand, improved its score by 12 points, going from 45 percent in 2012 to 33 percent in 2014.
Pakistan and Nigeria are the next two in Britons' five least favorite countries.
