Abduct Israelis to free prisoners, Gaza leaders say

GAZA CITY (Reuters) -- Islamic leaders in the Gaza Strip called on Friday for militants to kidnap Israelis and use them as bargaining chips to secure the freedom of thousands of Palestinians prisoners held in Israeli jails.

Human rights groups say up to 2,000 prisoners have joined an open-ended hunger strike to protest against jail conditions and thousands of Palestinians staged a rally in the Gaza Strip to support their cause.

"We should work hard to get (Israeli) prisoners in our hands in order to secure the freedom of our prisoners," Khaled al-Batsh, a senior member of the Islamic Jihad, told the crowd.

"I say to all armed factions, the way to free the prisoners is through swaps ... An arrest for an arrest, and freedom for freedom. This is the way," he said.

3. It'll work if the Israelis act like sheep

But it's one thing to take a soldier as a hostage, completely another to take a civilian, especially if it's a child or an old person. It could really blow up in the Gazans' faces, and cause Israelis to give Netanyahu a free hand in doing whatever he wants to in Gaza.

4. A soldier would be the way to go

Most would rally behind that as was evidenced with Shalit.

5. Are you kidding ??

Like they give a rats ass who they take hostage?

What?.. They afraid of "bad publicity"?
They're suddenly afraid of Israel taking retribution ?

They only hope they get to take a kid hostage on every level.

Once Israel retaliates they can then claim how oppressed they are against the "mean old Israelis" and any dead gazans will be paraded around as victims of Israeli "oppression".

And then for good measure Ban ki Moon will of course call for restraint.

6. What I was saying

is that it won't work for the Gazans if they take a kid or an old person. It might galvanize the Israelis to let Netanyahu do what needs to be done.
