He is lucky he wasn't executed as a traitor.

Isn't life in prison generally the punishment in cases such as this?

Look at Robert Hanssen.

Still, I wouldn't shed any tears if either of them were shanked in prison.

I think he was freed in 2009 due to ailing health.

If it was, then no, he should not be released. Life imprisonment should mean exactly that; both for people like the Lockerbie Bomber and for Pollard.

If his sentence was not fair and just, then he should be released for that reason.

Pollard Remains in Critical Conditon in Hospital
