The Foreign Press Association is concerned at the attacks by the Israeli IDF on buildings housing journalists in Gaza last night.

The IDF stated this morning that “The sites that we targeted overnight were all positively identified by precise intelligence over the course of months.”

One building houses or has been used by the following FPA members: British news organisations Sky News, and Sky News Arabia, MBC TV ,Al Arabiya, ORF and other European broadcasters.

1. Hasn't this sort of thing happened before? Seems Israel doesn't want any

news not filtered by them to get out...

23. Dead Palestinians can be ignored when there is no media

to report it, but dead journalists? Bad idea.

30. Yes, everyone sure is ignoring the deaths of Palestinians

Almost no coverage at all compared to say the hundreds who have been killed in Sudan this year.

26. Yep. Remember when we killed the al-Jazeera reporters in their hotel room?

Our tanks shelled the very room they were in.

I think we also pegged a few on rooftops.

3. Killing innocents with impunity.

18.00HRS GMT. The BBC reports Gaza deaths now 67

"At least 21 people are reported to have been killed in Gaza by Israeli bombardments so far on Sunday. Of the total, at least nine were children and at least four were women, Gaza health officials said."

Neither Europe nor the USA appear to be concerned that on the edge of Europe there is a western democracy killing innocents with impunity.

4. Israeli SOP. One of the most important objectives is to control perception.

They have murdered third-party observers and reporters for decades with impunity.

6. It was called the Mavi Marmara, it was a Turkish ship. A good friend of mine was on board.

One of the people on board was an American citizen, his name was Furkan Doğan and he was 18 years old.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2010/jun/04/gaza-flotilla-attack-autopsy-results

Dogan was murdered with a shot in the back of the head execution style while lying face down on deck, after already being shot.

If an arab nation boarded a vessel in international waters and executed an American citizen, i am sure the US government would be fine with that too.

18. Fair enough. Just to clearify, my friend was ok. He had an interesting experience in an israeli jail

He is a white Norwegian guy, atheist. He was basically on the ship because he puts his money where is mouth is, he is a hardcore humanitarian.

In the jail, the israelis could not understand why he was there and spent about two days accusing him of having secretly converted to Islam, that was the only fathomable reason for him wanting to deliver school books and pencils to Gaza.

One of the guards got to know him a bit and told him he thought Norway was a nice country and that he would like to move there. But he said he probably couldn't. When my friend asked why, he said because he would probably be killed as a Jew in Norway.

That made me realise to what level some people are brainwashed on both sides.

7. There is a facebook page one can follow for images from inside Gaza

https://www.facebook.com/pages/Team-Palestina/198580813517826?ref=stream

I'm sure some of our fellow DU'ers will point out that it's totally biased and awful but basically this is a photo/video stream coming out of Gaza so obviously that's what is on there.

If anyone has a similar page for Israeli victims feel free to post it here, im not even kidding.

8. If it emits electronic signals, IDF treats it as a target. Shoot first, ID the target later. Or,

maybe they IDed the target first . . .

It's amazing that anyone is left alive in Gaza after these indiscriminate attacks what with it being so densely populated and all.

"The Israeli military confirmed to the BBC that it knew foreign journalists were in at least one of the two media buildings it struck in Gaza, but said they were not the target."

We silenced unwanted press in Baghdad by blowing up Al-jazeerah, killing two. So Israel knows it can murder journalists too and get away with it.

At this point whether it was yet another case of human shield tactics is unknown.
