Russell Tribunal conclusion: U.S. facilitates Israeli immunity and impunity


After two long days of expert testimony, the Russell Tribunal on Palestine wrapped up Sunday night (see Ethan Heitner's reports and sketches of the days). Then yesterday, the tribunal’s jury presented its findings to a United Nations committee--findings that Israel “has achieved a status of immunity and impunity by complete disregard for the norms and standards of international law facilitated by the US.”

The executive summary of these findings has now been published.

You could demolish the credibility of each of the jurors and it wouldn't matter. The fact that your interlocutor gives even a moment's credence to the Russell Tribunal suggests a logical and moral gap between the two of you that is unbridgeable.

I suspect that the only people for whom credibility is being demolished are the ones who felt these people had no credibility in the first place

Roger Waters- probably antisemitic and/or 'Hollyweird' latte librul-even though he's British

not that I agree with these summations but there you have it unless your going for the crowd that knows nothing about these people or the conflict itself

now that said there was a problem with Russell Tribunal as was outlined in +972 and it was the lack of Palestinians as either speakers or jurors

The Israeli Embassy staff in Athens must have been quite surprised upon receiving the following order from Jerusalem: Send a representative to the Roger Waters concert immediately.

Recently, the Foreign Ministry received reports that the former Pink Floyd front man's concert, "The Wall," which is being performed in Athens these days, is filled with clear anti-Israel and anti-Semitic messages.

The reports joined claims made by the Anti-Defamation League that video clips aired during the concert show Jewish Stars of David attached to dollar signs, planes dropping bombs in the shape of Stars of David and pictures of Israeli soldiers and suffering Palestinians.

Former Congresswoman and staunch supporter of the late Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi, Cynthia McKinney was in La Mirada today speaking at an event organized by Arab Americans 4 Syria, a Los Angeles-based group of Assad loyalists. It's no surprise that McKinney is now supporting the Assad regime after her shameful appearance on Libyan state TV defending Gaddafi as a hero in May of 2011.
