Desalination and the Israel-Palestine issue

the writer is a PhD candidate....cleary he was never taught that the conclusions come after the research and not before......

this is the kind of article mean to demonize israel for pioneering in desalination technology as well as applying it. Its a great article if that is what you want to believe, its a poor article if your interested in actually understanding the real ramifications of it and understand that israel is actually tackling one of the worlds major problems (just a note to the boycotters....in a few years you might want to watch where the water your drinking from is coming from...it might have its base in israeli technology)

now to the fun stuff:

Anything in excess will likely be used to rehabilitate existing aquifers and lakes, rather than replace them as a source. Many experts have already pointed out that far more effective, immediate and economically feasible results can be attained by tackling consumer demand, improving wastewater use and improving infrastructure such as leaking.

ok dummy, (author) fixing acquifers: to rehabilitate them, is not using them, and once they are in good shape because they have no been used, israel the country will not be needing them, unless for emergencies. No 2, israel is already tackling consumer demand-try doing some research or at least dont ignore it. 3) in your own article you already mentioned that israel treats its wastewater......

Israel also treats the vast majority of their wastewater and effluent, using 80 per cent of it for agriculture, by far the highest in the world.

------
My favorite however is israels suggestion that because the gaza acquifer is in such bad shape that the gazans should set up a desalination plant....

this logic can possibly explain why Israel has ardently supported plans for a desalination plant in Gaza. Not only would this undercut Palestinian claims to their aquifers, it would also make Gazans even more vulnerable to Israel,

the author believes israel is sugggesting it, so that they can bomb it later, i guess that means the author prefers that that the gazans continue to use the water from the acquifer so as not to give the israelis a chance to bomb their water supply (hey author...did you know that even with a plant, the acquifer will still be there, underground and in better shape!!)

....or a nobody blogger like Silverstein.

If Israel can be bashed, they'll run with it. Facts be damned.
