http://mondoweiss.net/2015/07/palestinian-telling-welcomeThe Guardian subtitled the video into English, which was filmed today at an event entitled, the Good life in Germany at a school in Rostock, Germany. Reem is one of many children at the forum and explained to Merkel that her family is facing deportation. They arrived in Germany from a Lebanese refugee camp four years ago, reported The Guardian.
I have goals like anyone else. I want to study like them its very unpleasant to see how others can enjoy life, and I cant myself, Reem told the chancellor. In response an unmoved Merkel said, I understand what you are saying, nonetheless politics is hard sometimes. There are thousands and thousands more in the Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon. And if we say you can all come here, you can all come over from Africa, we cant cope with that.
To this, the young Reem bursted into tears. A classmates consoled her. Merkel carried on with her talk. Then noticing the crying girl she approached, Oh come here. You did so well, she said gesturing for Reem.

(6,019 posts)Between this, her stance on gay marriage and her stance in dealing with Greece's (albeit self-inflicted) problems, it appears to me she is truly heartless.

(16,423 posts)The girl is an immigrant who, along with her family, is not granted asylum in Germany and will be deported.
The girl says to Merkel that she wants to stay. Merkel says that there are rules for immigration in Germany. You can't just come here and expect to stay automatically.
What was Merkel supposed to do? Lie to the girl?
"Hey, you journalists! She can stay! See, what a nice person I am? Hey, girl! Jinx!!! We deport you anyways."
Replace Merkel with Obama and the palestinian girl with a mexican girl.
Obama tells the girl that she's a nice person but she will be deported because there are rules for immigration in the US. The girl starts crying and all the media in the US starts portraying Obama as the heartless asshole he obviously is. Pics don't lie, after all.
And DU will come to a clear and measured verdict:
Obama is as heartless as a Nazi Stormtrooper!
Obama would have conducted experiments on humans in concentration-camps!
This crying girl reveals the true character of Obama!
The evil just keeps coming!
Obama is so evil, he should not be allowed to raise kids!

Do you always get this emotionally involved with political issues?

(16,423 posts)If you don't have a problem with crying mexican kids, why do you have a problem with a crying palestinian kid? Could it be because the later involves Super-Nazi concentration-camp Obersturmgruppenführer Angela Mengele?
She's obviously the worst person in the world and it's obviously okay to throw out Nazi-comparisons left and right, but telling other people to stop being so hysterical gets you called EMOTIONAL.

(45,850 posts)A teenage Palestinian asylum seeker, who burst into tears in front of German Chancellor Angela Merkel during a televised debate earlier this week, will be allowed to stay in Germany, officials said Friday.
Merkel's encounter with the teenager named Reem has gone viral over the past few days. The young Palestinian left a Lebanese refugee camp four years ago and was facing deportation back to the unstable area.
"I don't know the personal situation of this young girl but she speaks fluent German and has visibly lived here for a long time," Integration Minister Aydan Ozoguz said, according to the website of Spiegel weekly.
"This is exactly why we changed the law so that well integrated youths" can have a new residency permit through a new immigration law that came into force in August, Ozoguz said.
The mayor of Rostock's spokesman told the daily Tagesspiegel that he had no intention of sending Reem and her family back.
