3. Israel Raids Ship Carrying Gaza-Bound Rockets From Iran: Army
Wed Jun 17, 2015, 11:26 AM
Jun 2015

JERUSALEM (AP) — Israeli naval forces raided a ship in the Red Sea early Wednesday and seized dozens of advanced rockets from Iran destined for Palestinian militants in Gaza, the military said.

The ship, the KLOS C, was carrying Syrian-made M-302 rockets and was intercepted more than 1,000 miles (1,600 kilometers) south of Israel off the coasts of Sudan and Eritrea, military spokesman Lt. Col. Peter Lerner told reporters.

He said the M-302 rockets have a range of up to 100 miles (160 kilometers) and would have significantly improved the capabilities of Gaza militants, putting nearly all of Israel in their range. Previously, Gaza militants have only been able to reach about 50 miles (80 kilometers) into Israel with their homegrown M-75 missiles. The Lebanese militant group Hezbollah used M-302s in a 2006 war against Israel, the military said.

Gaza Weapons Smuggling Will Not Stop, Moussa Abu Marzouk, Hamas No. 2, Says

The group is believed to have amassed a large arsenal of thousands of rockets since Israel's last military offensive in Gaza four years ago. Hamas has been smuggling weapons through tunnels under the border with Egypt, but also claims to have begun manufacturing longer-range rockets in Gaza.

During the latest round of fighting, Hamas fired Iranian-made Fajr-5 rockets that came close to Israel's heartland, including the cities of Tel Aviv and Jerusalem for the first time. Israel warplanes pounded the tunnel area during the offensive to disrupt smuggling, and tunnel operators reported serious damage, but in the past were able to rebuild quickly.

Hamas used to be evasive about Iranian weapons support, but in recent days senior officials in the group have openly thanked Tehran. Gaza strongman Mahmoud Zahar told reporters on Saturday that he is confident that Iran will increase military and financial support to Hamas and the smaller militant group Islamic Jihad.

Are the Saudis there to buy from BFF Israel? How much are American taxpayers giving to subsidize Israeli weapons production and sales to dictators?

Since 1949 the U.S. has given Israel a total of $83.205 billion. The interest costs borne by U.S. tax payers on behalf of Israel are $49.937 billion, thus making the total amount of aid given to Israel since 1949 $133.132 billion. This may mean that U.S. government has given more federal aid to the average Israeli citizen in a given year than it has given to the average American citizen

Quite a lot of "aid" for a country that is relatively well off, would you not agree?

2. Iran’s Response to Saudi War Game—Show Off All the Weapons
Wed Jun 17, 2015, 11:17 AM
Jun 2015

Just two weeks after Saudi Arabia’s biggest-ever military drill, Iran unveiled an impressive range of new weapons as part of a special, private arms expo.

The expo had just one main guest—Iranian supreme leader Ayatollah Khamenei. The highest-ranking officers in Iranian armed forces were present to explain to their leader the capabilities of new sensors, missiles and unmanned vehicles.

The exhibition’s star was a full-size copy of America’s RQ-170 drone, one of which crashed on the Afghanistan-Iran border in late 2011, ending up in Iranian hands.

Also present was a new wheeled launch vehicle for old, Soviet-designed SA-6 air-defense missiles, complete with enhanced electronics. SA-6 launchers traditionally are tracked vehicles. The new system is similar to India’s Akash project.

Next to the new SA-6 launcher were two unnamed new sensor systems, each with one main tracking radar with a circular dish, sharing the same geometry as the original Straight Flush radar associated with the SA-6.

Hezbollah chief says that the Shi'ite group has arms Israel isn't aware of.

Hezbollah has more types of weapons than Israel can imagine, Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah told the Arab-language Al-Mayadeen television network during an interview on Wednesday.

"Hezbollah has weapons that the enemy can expect and we have ones that they aren't expecting. Our resistance has not been damaged, and Israel is mistaken if it thinks it has," Nasrallah said.

According to the Hezbollah leader, Israel is interested in a conflict that would be a landslide victory for it, however he claims that such a win is completely unrealistic. "If Israel attacks Lebanon, our resistance is strong and our ability to win is great."

In October, Hezbollah planted and detonated two bombs in the Mount Dov region along the border with Lebanon, with one device wounding two IDF soldiers.

A second blast tore through the same area about 30 minutes later, but failed to cause injuries or damage.

As to weapons sales, The US is, of course number one, but Israel is up there at number eight.

And given that the US population is over 321 million vs. just 8 million for Israel that shows just how massive the war industry is for a country that small.

But getting back to your Iran/Israel comparison, Iran is not on the top ten list of arms sellers. So does that make Israel better or worse than Iran in your opinion?
