For your listening pleasure, Episode 47 of Extinction Radio is ready to stream.

At Extinction Radio, we bear witness to the Sixth Great Extinction Event currently unfolding by welcoming and reflecting a diversity of viewpoints on how, when and why extinction is occurring. Using a mix of formats including interviews, presentations, poetry and music, we offer wisdom and compassion on navigating the probable demise of humanity and non-human species as well as advice and encouragement on living fully and with full awareness until we can no longer go on.

This weekend, on Sunday, is Valentine's Day. As a result we will be emphasizing love in the End Times. BTW, it is also the day that Gozer the Magnificent is scheduled to return and destroy the world, according to Ghost Busters II. Good luck all.

This week we are shaking up the order of our show. As a Valentine's gift for our regular contributors, they get to open this episode. Our main guest, Zhiwa Woodbury, will close the show. His segment is an hour long and very important.

For starters, the other day, I called my dear friend Kevin Hester who is hosting Jennifer Hynes in NZ and recorded them talking about Jennifer's trip to NZ and her personal feelings about presenting her work on climate change to a new audience. We in the climate change community, we who volunteer our time to bring the message to the masses, are people first and foremost. I want to remind our listeners that we share the human tendency to get upset when people say bad things about us for telling the truth about climate change. Jennifer addresses this discomfort during the segment.

In today's show, Ivey Cone will talk about the history of Valentines day. Pete Melton will present a fable he wrote 20 years ago. John Compost Cossham will talk about alternative love styles. Paul Beckwith will talk about the rapid decline of phytoplankton in our oceans. Kathy Harrison will present a short segment on food shopping when you are living on the edge financially. Gail Zawacki will talk about love during the endocene. Michael Adzema will talk about living during the Eve of the Apocalypse. Zhiwa Woodburry, an ecopsychologist, will talk about the roots of denial in everyday people. Susan Livingston will present the global extreme weather.

Of course we will feature our Poet Laureates of Doom, Rex Eagle, Debba Kale Earnshaw and Benjamin The Donkey. My Musical Gem for this week is Chopin's Ballade in G minor.

Extinction Radio is broadcast on Activatemedia.org on Tuesday night, 9pm Boston time/6PM Pacific time/ 2AM Wednesday UK Time. Archived episodes can be found at extinctionradio.org.
