A second nuclear reactor ahead for Missouri?

Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon and energy officials are to announce plans today that could include the development of another nuclear reactor in the state.

The Democratic governorís office called the plans significant for energy development and economic growth in Missouri. Nixon and officials from Ameren Missouri and Westinghouse Electric are scheduled to make the formal announcement this afternoon at the Missouri Governorís Mansion.

2. It may involve wind power as well.

All we know at this point is that it's a "major" address on energy and (since Westinghouse is going to be there), presumably includes nuclear power.

4. It would probably go on the existing nuke site.

That's just a guess, but it's usually the easiest way to get them approved... and I think one was looked at a couple years ago.

So you either already have one upwind, or still wouldn't.

6. Did you notice the question marks in the OP?

It isn't a claim that the announcement is a "definitive plan to build a new reactor"

As I said futher down. All we know is that there's a major address related to energy and that Westinghouse and Ameren are invovled in the event.

It is therefore entirely reasonable to ask "is there a new reactor in MO's future?"
