Gregory J. King Named Director, Office of Public Affairs, National Labor Relations Board

On June 16, 2013, Gregory J. King joined the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) as Director of the Office of Public Affairs. King will represent and advise the Chairman, the Acting General Counsel and other NLRB senior leaders on matters relating to media relations, public affairs, social media, and internal and external communications.

King is a longtime communications professional, with more than three decades of experience communicating about political, legislative and labor issues at both the state and national levels. Most recently, he served as Assistant Director of Communications for the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME). Earlier, King worked as a senior communications advisor to the president of the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) and, from 1988 to 1995, as Communications Director of the Human Rights Campaign. His previous federal service includes work for two members of Congress and a stint with the Department of Justice as Director of Special Projects in the Office of Public Affairs.

King was educated at the George Washington University and the London School of Economics. He is a recipient of the Public Relations Society of America’s 2011 Thoth Award for Excellence in Public Relations.
