Retailers could feel Kraft-Heinz merger 'pinch'

http://supermarketnews.com/supplier-news/retailers-could-feel-kraft-heinz-merger-pinch

While there have been other big mergers in the CPG industry, the Kraft Foods Group and H.J. Heinz Co. deal is a game changer.

“If it can happen to Kraft, it can happen to anyone,” Don Stuart, managing partner at Cadent Consulting Group, Wilton, Conn., said of possible other takeover targets.

Heinz and Kraft announced Wednesday that they agreed to merge in a deal that will form The Kraft Heinz Co., the fifth largest food and beverage firm in the world and the third largest in North America.

snip
and I believe an important statement here.....
3G is known for buying consumer companies and aggressively slashing costs. It will strip Kraft’s costs to the bone, both in terms of people and capabilities, said Stuart, just as it did when it led the takeover of Anheuser-Busch and Heinz, said Stuart.

Eventually there will be one gigantic malevolent corporate entity that will control virtually everyone and everything.

Hell, I even get Hunt's ketchup at the Dollar Tree, no sense in paying Heinz 2-3 times the cost for the same product. As for a lot of the stuff that Kraft makes, there are alternatives that support small local businesses, that are probably slightly better for you. Whenever I'm travelling by car to a faraway area, I hit the local upscale markets for locally-produced salad dressings that reflect the flavors of the ingredients grown in those areas.

I'm imagining I will be buying a lot more Red Gold in the future (Indiana grown and packaged).

We have zero within the Republican Party today.

And, we have a massive dearth of it within the Democratic Party today.

We'll have to build progressive awareness outside of the Democratic Party and fight like hell to reform the D Party or we're screwed.
