Leading EU Progessive pens column in favor of austerity and privatisation for Greece

Hannes Swoboda http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hannes_Swoboda has written an essay in support of economic reform in Greece.

Even with the most basic economic knowledge, it is obvious that what Greece requires to get back on its feet is economic growth. Privatisations and increased efficiency as well as serious cutting of red tape will facilitate investments and projects resulting in job creation and therefore increase the number of taxable incomes, simultaneously providing opportunities for the jobless in Greece. These measures will need the support of Greece's partners, the Troika as well as the EU member states.

It is now our task as Greece's European partners - and I explicitly include all national and European politicians - to not spoil serious efforts by continued talk of a eurozone exit or even a complete eurozone collapse.

1. Plus they need FBI-style enforced tax coercion

Right now, as regards to the economy, Greece qualifies as a failed state.

The state apparatus has been bloated on purpose (out of shameless vote-buying) by the dad (Andreas) Papandreou.

Said state has become so inefficient citizens regard paying taxes as a total waste. result: they don't pay.

You can't get a receipt in most shops/taxis/whatever, in order to fraud on VAT and profit taxes.

Has to be both: trim the state, make it work, and get people to pay taxes.

They never should have been admitted in the EU, Euro, whatever.

A trading bloc of Greece, Albania and Zimbabwe would have made more sense.
