United States President Barack Obama's security team will arrive in Colombia Thursday, to prepare for the leader's April visit, reported newspaper El Pais Wednesday.

Obama is attending the Sixth Summit of the Americas in Cartagena from April 9 to 15 -- his first Colombian visit since President Juan Manuel Santos took office.

The conference brings together all the heads of state in the Western Hemisphere - minus Cuba - to discuss regional issues such as trade and peace.

On top of the president's safety, the security detail will be responsible for more than one thousand US international committee personnel.
