Venezuela's VP Maduro a "poor copy" of Chavez: opposition

Venezuela's opposition mocked President Hugo Chavez's chosen successor Nicolas Maduro on Friday as a "poor copy" of his boss who should be promoting national unity rather than insulting opponents during a delicate time for the South American nation.

In power since 1999, Chavez named vice president and foreign minister Maduro as his preferred replacement should he be incapacitated by the cancer he is battling in Cuba.

Since the December 11 operation, Maduro, 50, a former bus driver and union leader who shares Chavez's socialist politics, has been fronting day-to-day government in Venezuela while the president has been neither seen nor heard from in public.

Though lacking Chavez's booming charisma, Maduro has borrowed elements of his style - speaking regularly and lengthily on live TV, inaugurating public works, rallying supporters and attacking "bourgeois" opponents at every turn.

Pictures showing Capriles in disgusting situations (photoshopped of course), there was one that was just disgusting beyond belief at Chavez's last speech before the elections. Some guy was holding a sign up photoshopped of Capriles doing something nasty. And there stood Chavez in the foreground, raising hell. If I was Chavez or even in that situation I would've called that guy out with the sign, but he needs the homophobes. He panders to it.

I deleted those pictures though because I would bet if I posted those pictures here my post would be hidden. They were really vile, disgusting, homophobic smears.

...so I would expect them to present the opposition view of Maduro, but this is a bit over the top as a fascist rant.

It's disgusting to see it posted at Democratic Underground--but instructive, kind of like reading NRA press releases.

Keep it up! The more that corpo-fascist 'news' organization shovel out crap like this as 'news,' the worse does the opposition look, and the more disreputable do those who promote it look.

Anyone who takes the time to start looking behind the propaganda will be rewarded by discovering the truth.

Really sad seeing people dragging themselves to the D.U. to try to point people in the "right-wing" direction, isn't it? As we know, the right-wing LOATHES democracy.

Constantly calling anyone who disagrees or has a negative opinion of the saviors right wingers or trolls. You have to maintain the Emmanuel Goldstein else people will start to actually actively look for information as opposed to being misled by those who are backing those saviors.

This hate mongering is designed specifically to stop people from "looking behind propaganda." It's propaganda in and of itself. Orwell wrote quite a lot on it and Chomsky discusses this tactic at length in Manufacturing Consent. It's all about making people not think for themselves.
