Travel website Travelzoo listed Colombia as one of the top five countries to visit in 2013.

http://colombiareports.com/travel-in-colombia/113-general/27291-travelzoo-lists-colombia-as-top-destination-for-2013.html

Travelzoo put Colombia in its top five "wow" destinations for 2013, along with Alaska, Ireland, New Zealand and the Niagara falls.

The site notes that the recent surge of interest from big name airlines and hotel chains such as the Hilton and the Marriot is "a sure sign that this South American country has emerged from the shadows of its infamous past."

The website also noted that "this tourism boom is breeding competition and deals – in a country where the U.S. dollar already goes far," going on to reference the country "that boasts the tongue-in-cheek tourism tag line: 'The only risk is wanting to stay'."

Colombia looks to be an emerging tourism hotspot as it was also awarded the 2012 "Long Haul Up and Coming Destination of the Year" by British Tourism Operators at the World Travel Market in London.

Clearly, you know far more than the people there who are in charge of where to invested hundreds of millions of dollars.

In Columbia. You really think those investing millions are going to mention this? Go check out the local newspapers for a month of so. Better yet go check it out yourself.

That's not the way it works. They are investing because they think they will get a good return on their money as business and tourism returns.

But as I said, you should try to get a job for them as clearly their analysts don't know what they are talking about.

It is obvious you feel no one else can have an opinion different from yours. This is mine and the papers I read ARE papers IN Columbia. Why does my opinion bother you so much? Sorry but that's the way it goes.

You believe what you want and I will believe what I want.

I didn't say I disagree with you. I simply said that you disagree with the executives who are investing millions and millions of dollars. Since they are so clearly wrong, and don't read the newspapers, you should apply for a job with them.

Companies like to make money. Right now, analysts and executives at Marriot and other places are apparently being idiots investing money there without even reading newspapers.

surely they would pay a good wage to you so that they don't make such bad investments

Walk away

call the India Catalina. From my favorite table on the breakfast patio I could look out onto the ocean and the Capri Del Mar (the grandest hotel in the crescent). Every morning shots would ring out aimed just below the revolving restaurant spinning atop the Capri. The newly elected President was holed up there with his body guards and the unhappy populace took daily pot shots at him.

Once while drinking shots at TV Tony's Bar with the son of the mayor of Santa Marta, I witnessed a man being shot between the eyes! And people were always disappearing forever on the road to Cali.

Admittedly, this was all thirty years ago but since then the brother of a friend of mine was murdered because he ran for office in his home district and her cousin's house was blown up in a political disagreement. I just can't believe "The only risk is wanting to stay"!

If you lived in New Orleans you'd be safer going to Colombia... think about that one for a minute there. Once the most violent place on the planet.
