Venezuela's PDVSA wind project nears final stage

Venezuela's PDVSA wind project nears final stage
By Business News Americas staff reporter - Friday, August 22, 2014

Venezuela's Paraguaná wind project received components for its last 22 turbines, a release from state oil firm PDVSA said.

Located near the Paraguaná refinery complex in Falcón state, the wind project is expected to deliver 100MW of capacity to power the neighboring oil refinery.

Spanish firm Gamesa is developing the project and has already installed 54 of the wind park's 76 planned turbines.

The project began generating in December 2012 and since then has saved the Paraguaná refinery complex approximately US$36.3mn by substituting renewable energy for diesel-fired generation, PDVSA said.
