(85,373 posts)is to support a peaceful revolution in the United States: deposing the Oligarchs and religious bigots and stripping them of assets and power, purging the money out of politics and the violent out of police, military and State department, dismantling and repurposing the NSA, CIA, FBI, and all their high-tech toys.
It's not going to happen, IMO. Not in the foreseeable future. But we could turn a corner, and things could change...
Which would be more likely: the People take back their country, or invasion by the rest of a pissed-off world?

(160,449 posts)by perverting our democracy, our legal system, abusing every decent principle ever known.
Criminals have wormed their way to power in a society which demands fair play from its citizens, but looks the other way when the super sociopathic criminals among us abuse it, and seize control of the government, and its laws, through corruption, and then the police and military to use against dissent, inside and out of the country.
It's an evil situation, but if history is to serve any purpose, it has shown that it's going to fail spectacularly, in time.
I'll bet an internal movement could accomplish miracles when we expect it least.

(770 posts)When the choice comes down to choosing between USA, Russia, China, Iran, Nigeria, Brazil or Venezuela, the USA wins hands down, warts and all.

(770 posts)It's very important to have a first hand look at what you are defending, besides, Venezuela has wonderful scenery, friendly socialists dressed in red, and very good cuisine. Try visiting the socialist communes at 23 de enero, talk to the fellows at aporrea.org and listen to the workers at the steel plants in Guayana, visit farmers in Tachira, and walk through a typical neighborhood like La Isabelica in Valencia, visit the native communities near the Brazilian border, see if you can find a Cuban doctor, and you will return ready to battle for Venezuela.
