‘Farewell Intercourse’ Law in Egypt Would Legally Allow Husbands To Have Sex With Dead Wives

A controversial new law, dubbed "Farewell Intercourse," could possibly come into effect in Egypt which states that husbands will be legally allowed to have sex with their dead wives up to six hours after their death.

According to The Daily Mail, the "Farewell Intercourse" law is just one of many new laws being introduced to Egyptians by the Islamist-dominated parliament. Other laws include the legal marriage age lowered to 14-years-old and women's rights to education and employment abolished.

Because any more than six hours would just be gross.

3. Maybe in a colder climate

you could push that time limit out to 12 hours but I agree that six would be just about the max in a fucking furnace like Egypt.

6. Turns out (thank goodness) that this entire story was a huge HOAX

http://www.csmonitor.com/World/Backchannels/2012/0426/Egypt-necrophilia-law-Hooey-utter-hooey

The details of how the story is a hoax are at the link, but the big finish is this:

Stories like this are a reminder of the downside of the Internet. It makes fact-checking and monitoring easier. But the proliferation of aggregation sites, newsy blog sites, and the general erosion of editorial standards (and on-the-ground reporters to do the heavy lifting) also spreads silliness faster than it ever could before.
