Fire crews in Arvada responding to reports of an explosion early Tuesday morning arrived to find a home engulfed in flames and the phrase "My wife is a cheater" scrawled across its exterior.

Arvada police say they have arrested a man on suspicion of arson in connection with the blaze but declined to release his identity or details of the crime.

Crews were called to the home near the intersection of West 68th Avenue and Nelson Street at about 1:30 a.m., the Arvada Fire Protection District said.

"Upon their arrival, they were faced with a lot of fire that was coming from the front of the house as well as the back of the house," said Deputy Fire Marshall Deanna Harrington, a district spokeswoman. "There was debris in the street — some patio furniture."
