Obama signs bipartisan student loan bill into law.. YAY! Pete Souza Photo

Pete Souza: The pool press covers Pres Obama signing the student loan bill

President Barack Obama Friday signed into law a bipartisan student loan bill which the House overwhelmingly approved late week. The Senate OK’d the measure by a vote of 81 to 18 two weeks ago.

Without congressional action, interest rates on loans to college students were increasing from 3.4 percent to 6.8 percent. But under the law signed by Obama the interest rate for undergraduate loans will fall back to 3.86 percent. The interest rate on graduate student loans will be 5.41 percent.

Obama’s signature on the bill ends months of arguments over how much the federal government should subsidize student loans and whether students in the next several years will face crushing repayment burdens if interest rates go up, as most observers expect they will.

At the signing ceremony at the White House, attended by King and other members of Congress, Obama said it "feels good signing bills. I haven't done this in a while."

7. Black and White

It gives you far more clarity than color.

Life is filled with vibrant hues and bold colors, but there are times when desaturation actually helps you see more clearly. Seeing in black & white awakens you to the contrast hidden in subtle shades of color. You may lose some beauty but you can gain some clarity.

I sometimes prefer black & white.

Sometimes I need clarity, and I need to know what’s right and what’s wrong.

10. Truly, I thought it would not happen either. The GOP is trying to deny higher education to others.

12. Cha... thank you for

posting the b/w photo (love) and the video. I have been so stressed
about this as I have a daughter that will be a Senior this year. She is
graduating 2014 from Southern MS in Hattiesburg in MS. This is such great news, it brought tears to my eyes..

It was great to see our POTUS sign such an important bill. I have hope for the furture now...Thinking that an education would /could be out of reach for so many if the rates
were raised made me feel our children, all of them, would be lost without that very
important life experience, and the knowledge they will gain from a formal education... I will spread the news.... it's GREAT!!!!!
