Opera has something called "Opera Link" which, once you set it up automatically transfers your bookmarks, passwords, and some other stuff to any copy of Opera you have on any computer, tablet, or whatever. It's easy and perfectly safe.

I'm guessing Firefox has something like that buried in its menus.

Install on old computer and make backup to a flash drive. Install on new computer and do a restore from the file.

Backups/restores your whole profile for any Mozilla product, Firefox, Thunderbird email, SeaMonkey.
Does bookmarks, passwords, emails, etc.

I think it may not be updated very regularly but it works for me.

I use it to keep backups of my Firefox and Thunderbird. It is simple to use and backs up everything. I have a folder on another drive called Firefox Back Ups and can always rescue my bookmarks and email if I need it. I don't do as many reinstalls as I used to under XP but it still nice to have a few back ups if I ever want them.

You can do them manually by copying the /appsdata/Mozilla/Firefox folder but MozBackup is an easier way and still works well.

Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks
A window will open
Click on Import and Backup > Export Bookmarks to HTML - Take note where you saved them, or navigate to someplace you can find the file.
The file will be bookmarks.html

To import them in the new Firefox:
Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks
Import and Backup > Import Bookmarks from HTML - Navigate to where you put the file to import it.

I am assuming you are just wanting the bookmarks, so do this:

If you don't have it set already, you will need to show hidden files. (That's under Windows Explorer->Organize->Folders and search options, the view tab, and set hidden files and folders to "Show Hidden File Folders and drives&quot

Launch Firefox on the new computer and exit.

On your old computer go to C:\Users\%Username%\Appdata\Roaming\Mozilla\\Firefox\Profiles\<RANDOM CHARACTERS>.default

Copy places.sqlite to a usb drive.

Copy that file from your usb drive to C:\Users\%Username%\Appdata\Roaming\Mozilla\\Firefox\Profiles\<RANDOM CHARACTERS>.default on your new computer.

If you want you can hide your hidden files again.
