So it looks like all new Adobe products will only be available through their cloud. Hmph.
At Adobes annual MAX conference today, the company announced a major overhaul of the ten-year-old Creative Suite, which will now be known as Creative Cloud. From now on, you wont buy CS6 or CS7youll buy a $50 per month subscription to CC (happily, the first year will only cost $30 for anyone with a CS3 or later serial number).
Whats the reasoning behind the overhaul? For one thing, an online subscription service could help Adobe curb piracy. For another, itll make it easier for customers to opt-in to new product releases throughout the year, rather than dropping a single giant update annually. But more generally, the shift shows Adobe focusing on the way the cloud is integrated with its products. Rather than logging into Creative Cloud to download updates, a newly redesigned app will push CC notifications directly to your desktopmaking it easier to update your programs and download new apps.

(32,324 posts)As someone who got locked out of my YouTube account for about 18 months, when YouTube was acquired by Google, and Google decided the old user id codes might or might not work, depending on how your user id was configured, the idea that I can be locked into needing constant approval in order to keep my computer working properly seems undesirable to say the least.
I could afford to not have access to my favorite YouTube play list for that time. But I can't afford to be dependent on some major corporation's whim as to whether or not I access my daily life!

(4,119 posts)We really need to take a stand and boycott. I'm sick to death of cable and internet pushing us into a corner and squeezing every last penny out of us!! Many people can't afford this. Many people use You Tube to make videos that benefit them. Either one needs to take a stand. If someone who is basically wealthy and makes videos and encourages anyone to subscribe...they are part of the problem.
We need to give up our cable/internet addictions....and say ENOUGH!
Rent "A Bugs Life" while Redbox is still only $1.29. If ants can do it...so can we. Hint...we are the ants.
