I want my iTunes 10 back.

I've decided I don't like iTunes 11. Strike that; I find it quite irritating.

I don't use it to purchase anything. I'm not an audiophile. I want to download my podcasts and manage them on my iPod. Period.

This new one sucks ass. It argues with me when I want to download editions of a podcast. I can't open my playlist in a separate window, which makes arranging them a time-consuming process. And whenever I start it up, it's not at where I left it; it's at the intro screen every fucking time!

Every time... I have to say "no thanks" to whatever inane thing Apple is trying to sell me, then I have to select podcasts, THEN I have to call up the sidebar so I can actually use the damn thing. EVERY SINGLE TIME.

And those giant blue dots on the podcast list have ceased to be useful, as it make the gentle gray shading of the text lines virtually useless thanks to that big, bright dot.

Now, how the hell do I get iTunes 10.x back on my PC???

1. Try one of these links:

ETA - be sure to disable auto-update in Apple Software Update also.

4. Krispos, did you manage to go back to the previous version?

I'm not feeling the love for iTunes 11 either. I've got a massive library that iTunes 10 managed to search through really well, but this crap version keeps on freezing up all the time. I'll try and revert back to the older version if you managed to do it successfully, but I'm wary to try without knowing how it went as I've heard some horror stories where people have attempted and failed...

5. I had to an uninstall first.

And then I lost my library data file, because apparently version 10 and version 11 library files are not backwards compatible.

I didn't lose any files, but I had to re-import all of my sound and video files, which took some time.

And I've lost my playlists. I have them all on my iPod Nano, so I'm hoping I can plug-in and re-import them. My list of podcasts is like 600 files long, carefully arraigned, and I really don't want to have to do that again...

6. That sounds a bit too painful for me to try...

I've got over 200G of music in my library, and I dread to think how long it'd take to import all that into iTunes again.

I think once an upgrade happens that I'm reasonably happy with using, I won't be upgrading to any new ones until I know for sure that there's no nasty surpises included. At work they always seem to stay at least three releases behind the current one on anything, which means we were probably the last people in the world to have been using IE6, but there's some logic behind such caution...

I hope you do manage to get yr playlists back, btw...

3. I've never met a version of iTunes that was anything other than horrible.

It is and has been forever, one of the worst commercial GUI programs I've ever had the misfortune to use. Luckily I don't use it much. Basically I just plug in my iPhone every now and then to update it and use the music streaming feature to connect to my home music system, from my phone, where the ui is useable.
