router issues

I forgot my password to my Netgear router and went to their website to retrieve it.

That worked...but....my wireless connection stopped right after that. (no issues before this)

Bypassed the router and web access works with the modem

called netgear....my router is 3 yrs old...no help available....but they offered me tech support for a year for 125.00

not gonna take that....gonna get a new one..

what is a good deal out there today on routers? any suggestions?

Thanks....Gin

1. Did the wireless actually stop working

or did resetting the router change the password on the security? Can you see your router SSID or is it completely gone?

2. when I try to go to the web...it says cannot access the server...

my network shows up on the list...just doesnt take me to the web...

did I reset the router somehow by looking for my password?

a pop up screen popped up from firefox while I was there yesterday warning it might be a bad site and.did I want to continue...I did not continue.

maybe it got hacked.....but....netgear wont work with me unless I take their 125.00 deal....its cheaper to buy new one.

3. Access the router and turn off the WEP

then see if you can connect. If you can the router is working fine. then turn the WEP back on and write the new password down. Enter the new password in the connection setup on your computer and see if it will connect.
The warning is from firefox or your security software?

Cannot access the server says it's not connecting, not that the signal isn't there.

7. Trying out a LG tracfone with wifi.....first time I had router issues was when I logged into wifi

With the new phone.........Fixed the router issue....tried the phone today and same thing....wifi was locked up...couldn't access web with router.

So the culprit seems to be the cell phone......it appears to be...time will tell.

Anyone else have interference issues with wifi enabled cell phones?
