Can anyone recommend a good place to build a website?

I have a friend who wants to build a website and doesn't know who he should go with. He's adept at using Dreamweaver to edit html files, but also wants someone who has templates he can work with. He also may have a lot of traffic, so needs a service that can handle something like that. Any help would be most appreciated! Thanks!

You made me laugh out loud. Just you wait and see what he's building. I promise you it will be epic and I'm sure you'll see it posted here. I'll remember you and send you a link when it's ready.

They have several different plans to accommodate different bandwidth needs, support is excellent IMHO, and they have support for tons of scripts, CMS's (Joomla, WordPress, Drupal, etc.), and cPanel is easy to work with in my experience. I have used them now for about 5 years and have had no downtime and what issues I had were quickly resolved.

Basically, I've got a large Word document full of interesting stuff (including lots pictures), and I want to put it up on the Internet (presumably after converting it to html somehow). Someone today gave me the suggestions of Word Press for that. What do you think about them?

There are lots of options and it is easy to configure. You can get wordpress enabled sites for a few dollars a month.

Word should have a "save as HTML" option in the "save" dialog somewhere.
